Pricing and plans
Depending on the user’s needs there are three predefined WP Engine hosting plans to choose from, as well as a custom option. These plans differ dramatically in how many resources they offer which means you’re getting a very scalable service.
These plans are
Startup: All the basics for starting a small website or blog, for one WordPress website you get support for up to 25,000 visits per month, 10GB of storage, and 50GB of bandwidth. You’ll also get access to a global CDN, and a few other features listed above.
Growth: Features you need for a growing business, for five WordPress websites, up to 100K visits and 200 GB bandwidth per month, with 20 GB of storage. In addition to better resources, you can import your own SSL certificates and get access to 24/7 phone support.
Scale: Higher capacity and site limits to scale your experiences, for 15 WordPress websites, provides you even more resources, and supports up to 400,000 visits per month.
Custom: For large businesses and mission-critical sites. This dedicated environment delivers high performance, with managed onboarding and their fastest support response.
While this might look expensive, keep in mind that many budget WordPress plans are just rebranded shared hosting products, with minimal features but they do provide plenty of features and lots of room for your site to grow.
Performance
WP Engine offers plenty of performance-enhancing features, such as:
- A free Content Delivery Network (CDN)
- A built-in Page Performance test assesses your website performance, giving it a score and making recommendations
WP Engine has a banned list of plugins that might hurt your site performance or cause other issues, therefor are not allowed to use. Advise from an expert which plugins might help or which really won't is always welcomed and a benefit you rarely can find elsewhere.
Support
WP Engine support is one of it's major advantages and is available 24/7 via toll free numbers for every other packages other then Startup. Their lack of phone support for Startup customers is compensated with 24/7 live chat. Their agents responds very quickly and are very detailed about answering questions so we found no difficulties using live chat to troubleshot our problems.
